People have been emailing us for months, inquiring as to why the Tom Smith Jazz
Home Page has not updated. A lot of changes have taken place in Tom's life since
the last update. He is now a full time university professor. In the meantime he has
maintained a busy performing and writing schedule, including: several appearances
with R&B star Ben E. King, jazz concerts with Carl Fontana, Eddie Daniels, and
McCoy Tyner, and a jazz history research presentation at the International Association
of Jazz Educators Conference in New York City. He also made contributions to the
soon to be published Institute of Jazz Studies Year End Review, published by Rutgers
University. All in all Tom experienced an eventful August to January time frame.
Now to new frontiers
Check out Tom's new Questions and Answers page, where he
provides his choices for the thirty greatest big bands of all time. His choices are
interesting, entertaining, and enlightened. If you disagree, you have the email address.
Tom also wants to talk with anyone wishing to attend his school at Pfeiffer University.
Be on the lookout for more updates on this subject. We know that a lot of college
students use this site for preparing music appreciation and jazz history term papers.
Check out our new Jazz Research link. We want to know what you need to make our links
page more helpful. Let us know. We are glad to be back.
